Posted by Unhappy Well, I talked to four different reps, including a senior one at Apple, and they all said the same thing. I was very persistent, and even though I presented them with a repair order where another powerbook had the hinge fixed outside of warranty for free, they refused to comply. Said that it was done on a 'case by case' basis. I guess they don't expect their $5500 laptops to last for more than 2 years of use. I was planning to get a Ti Book when they released one with a new video card... (it would have been my 2nd brand new macintosh), now I'll just pass. It's funny how it took them so long to recall their little power bricks. Mine started popping and making a smoking smell a long time ago. And now the new one doesn't even fit. Maybe in another few years they'll offer to fix the hinge too.
