Apple makes quiality products that serves the needs of people that buy them. Apple cannot be held liable when PowerBook owners use their products hard and don't take care of them.

Don't let the subject of my posting polarize you against me, but I am just weary of listening to whiney and complacent Macintosh owners, who become activists as soon as they feel Apple have wronged them. Don't get me wrong, I am a proud owner of many Apple products, especially PowerBooks, but I also own a number of PC notebooks. I travel alot for work and have brought PowerBooks and notebooks with me. I'm not saying that my PowerBooks have never had any problems or never needed service, but it just bothers me everytime I hear passionate Mac users get up in arms when their PowerBook stops working, and they complain as loud as they can, because the world should stop and Apple should bow down to their every need. I was at an Apple Service Provider in Seattle recently to drop off my Pismo for service. I was quite prepared to without my PowerBook for a week, because I am a reasonable person, and I backup regularly to zip and I know it's not the service departments fault that the unit stopped working. It was certainly disconcerting to witness a vocal and arrogant user at the service counter who felt that he should be compensated for lost income, since he was unproductive, or that the service department should loan him a PowerBook and transfer his data to the loaner. Notebooks are convenient for travellers and mobile users, and manufacturers endeavor to make them road worthy, but it would be price prohibitive to design and manufacture them against any failure. I have not had any more prolems with my PowerBooks than with the Dell and IBM notebooks I've owned over the years, but Apple has certainly exceeded my expectations in terms of level of service. I could write novels about my experiences about ThinkPads. Too many people complain about Apple's one year warranty versus most manufacturer's three year warrany. AppleCare buys great peace of mind, and a greater level of support than any of the other guys.
