Late Bloomer Smokers

HI CS,
I started a new post mainly because I don't know how long this may end up to be. I did not want to hit the button to post it and find out it was to long to post on the site.
First before I get into any of my comments I want to tell you I will be praying for you and thinking of you everyday and wishing you a hopefully speedy recovery through your cancer situation.
That being said I think I can tell you why yor friend basically shut you out when you got on her about smoking. In the world we live in today that is all smokers hear about is how bad it is and what it is doing to them and there bodies. To make a long story short we get tired of hearing that same grind over and over again. But let me give you some food for thought, my husband is an insurance agent, deals with elderly people, I know for a fact of several cases where clients had smoked most of there life and went through with flying colors for a very large life policy. Then on the other hand my husband lost a brother to cancer at age 42 which had never smoked or drank in his life. I could go on and name several other cases just like this which I know of in my husband's business. Believe or not I am a nurse so I am suppose to know what smoking can do to you, and I do but it does not stop me from doing it. I truly believe if you have the cancer cell lurking in your body waiting to become active the least little thing will set it off. It will not matter if you are a smoker or not you will get cancer you are a prime example of that now aren't you?
I would bet you if you could have a open mind and have a good open conversation with your friend she would tell you she enjoys smoking which I do to. I can't tell you anybody that has started smoking if you come flat out and ask them they will tell you they enjoy it. You said you feel smokers have WEAK MINDS, well I would beg to differ with you on that I have a very good position with the STATE OF OHIO, do a bunch of traveling work with CEO'S, ADMINISTRATOR'S and DON'S of all different kinds of medical facililities seeing that elderly people are cared for in the right matter. You might laugh at this but when I am driving on long trips smoking gives me a chance to relax and put my thoughts together if I have had a rough assignmment that day.
Several other things I want to touch. The first one is a big one to me.
CS you chewed on me pretty hard and basically told me I was teaching my friend how to smoke. Well if you go back and read my prior posts to Gina, the conversation I had on the phone with my friend I questioned her real hard, why she wanted she wanted start smoking, and told her if she started she would like it and would not want to quit. Her words was to me ,(if you don't want to help me with tips I will learn on my own). Pretty well lets me know she is going to start smoking one way or the other correct!!!
Mind you I was going to spend a day with her the following week. So with me smoking around her what do you think her reaction would have been towards me if I would have said no I will not give you tips on smoking?
Last but not least I hope I have maybe helped you in some way maybe not. Maybe you think I am crazy but, you read this and have any questions, comments or thoughts feel free to post back. I love the conversation this is.
I want to touch on what men think when it comes to women smoking. You may not want to beleive this but I have seen with my own eyes. I told you early on in the post, I travel a bunch, which means I stay overnight in motels a bunch. Remember most places other then in your motel smoking room you can't smoke inside. So if your setting in the lounge having a drink and you decide you want to have a smoke you have to step outside to do it. Let me tell you if a woman steps outside to have a cigarette I can bet you $100.00 bill you are going to have a group of men to follow you, and they will definately stand there with you light up, try make conversation with you and stare at you while you are smoking. If the truth was known and men would admit it, it is a turn on to see a lady smoke and I will even go one step farther and say some men even want there wives to smoke. I know this blows your mind but this true as I say I have seen this first hand with as many motels as I stay in.
I will sum this post up by saying CS, I certainly hope just because I am a smoker you don't look at me as a bad person. I have tried to tell you why I smoke, why I feel your friend smokes and we are still the same person as anybody else. Maybe just a different thought pattern on what we think and how we react to certain things.
