I think you may find it difficult to understand but, for the narrow range that most of the people on this board live in, let me first state that the majority of people here use cigarettes in a sexual way, as a form of seduction. That is, becoming addicted and "weak" is the substitute for a kind of sexual seduction, a toying with weakness, a surrender. This can be carried to various extremes and, in the case of smoking, you'll even find people who get turned on by the thought of developing cancer or emphysema...it's the same concept.
You may wonder why they just don't do their schtick in a more normative fashion and the answer is that there are as many ways to skin a cat as their are people. But most of them started with some early sexual taboo, a line that they were not alllowed to cross and, so, resultantly their sexuality became symbolic.
For some, the sexual power resides in female shoes, for others, female clothing, for those here (most of them in my opinion) it resides in a penis substitute, one that emits "creamy substances" that weakens a person (feminizes them) and gets them addicted, thereby needy and dependent.
