The flavor(s) are quite different, and the different smoking devices deliver different amounts of vapor. I'd suggest checking out the how-to videos as puresmoker.com for a visual demo of what eSmoking looks like.
You can select the cartridges or liquid at various nicotine strengths, from none to waaaay beyond a normal beginner's buzz. I was a 5-6 a day light cig smoker, and I'm doing all right with the low strength cartridges.
Now, my non-smoking wife has discovered the chocolate flavored vapor carts (which I must admit I bought to see if she'd try it) and has bogarted the eCig here and there to enjoy it. So yeah, non-smokers aren't usually bothered by them, and some may even get curious enough to try them.
