hi
I just bought a dozen hens plus one rooster from an organic egg farmer in my area (somewhat) who was changeing stock. Two weeks later I am down to ten hens and trying to teach my roti x lab that she should protect her new charges and not eat them.
WE arn't doing too well.
my question is ,Can the girls get enough to eat free rangeing or do I need to keep feeding laying mash as well? How much? I bought a bag of organic feed but with the price of corn and everything else going up I don't know whether it is worth paying half again as much for the organic vs.the mill run mash.Would the eggs still be considered organic when they free range on our property which is not certified organic but has had no chemical input for at least 13 years?
thanks for the help and the interesting site
Danny
