Wow, that really is awful! Poor thing. You're right, I don't think he's having anything like a descent life. Those bumps remind me of the kind of violent hives people get when their immune system is really low and they have an allergic reaction. I think you're on to something with the pred, that would be my first guess too. If he's had that infection for a long time- which it looks like he has- his immune system is shot no matter what those bumps are. Of course with an infection like that really sealed in there, it could just be more puss that just pushed out wherever it could. I'm going to pass it on to a friend too to see if she has any thoughts.
