Well, Rachel, we failed to convert him. We tried but I think we've lost this round.
Paul, I hatch with hens 99% of the time. I'm just not interested in fiddling around with the hatching and raising chicks. I do when its a hen that abandons a nest before all are fully hatched.
And I think its safe to say we're all fanatical in different ways with our birds. I mean hey, I have AC in my coop. I obsess over their feed and that they are getting animal protein for the better feather development.
And I know about the dedication of the breeders that came generations before us. I've met several of those in travels at shows. They are the ones that got us where we were. But keep in mind, generations ago our dogs did not live until they were 15 yrs old. The breeders had no source for being able to use existing drugs knowledgeably, vets knew nothing about fowl of any kind. Add in the advent of so many drugs available to us today that did not exist generations ago. They did what they had to do then, this is now and now has given us more options.
