Had that problem I returned to giving the chickens scratch grains several times a day,
additinally since lettuce is cheap at price rite
I give the 26 chickens some lettucedaily, when veggies are ready in the garden they will be treated to some veggies. Having more items to peck at since they are not free range, it has helped.
