I have hatched two incubators with eggs. THe first one 18 out of 37 eggs hatched.
THis second one only 11 out of 42 hatched.
Now the baby chicks are dieing.
I have kept them warm but they are sickly when they hatch. They cant walk or move.
I have electrolytes in their water and the temp is setting at 96 to 99.
I know the eggs are fertile because some of them that did not hatch I opened and there was baby chicks in them they wered dead but perfectly formed.
What is it I am doing incorectly? Is it the temp in the incubator? Is it the temp after their hatched? Is it some thing I have done some other way?
One baby chick just this morning died but it had seizure like symptoms before it died. It layed there with its little body just streatched out jerking.
Does any one know why and what is wrong?
I am not going to waist any more eggs until I can understand what is happening.
Is the reason they are not walking well at birth the way I put them in the turner?
I put them in there with the little end pointing down. They were suppose to hatch on the 8th so I stopped turning them on the 5th.
I kept the temp in the incubator at 99.5 the complete time. I put water in the bottom of the incubator the whole time.
Thanks to anyone who might have imput into my problem.
AND HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL LADIES OUT THERE.
