I have only had chickens for about one year, so I never experienced a chicken's death until last weekend. On Sun.AM I went into the coop and found my bantam dead. She had been fine the day before, but had not laid an egg in about 8days. I was especially upset as she was a real pet. Would fly up to the outside roost when I tapped it and would peck gently at my pants or feet when she wanted treats. I am assuming she had some sort of egg bound issue since she was barely 1yr. old and had not laid in a week. Is this commom with bantams or was it just some sort of odd chicken occurence? She had no marks or blood on her and no predator had been in the coop. Really miss her sweet personality.
