Same here. First thought I had was if the bulb quit then there was no saving the chicks. I had one go out here in the house in the middle of Winter and was glad for the mess they made at that moment. I would have lost them all if they had been out.
You don't have to bring that heavy wood brooder in, you can use things like the big plastic tubs too. That's if you didn't go wild and buy a lot of chicks.
