Hi, our tradition (now gone for a few years) being Italian on my mom's side, from the Adriatic Coast below Yugoslavia, for Italiams all over the country,it was a fish meal, 7 fishes which represents, is it the sacraments do not remember, I am a maverick Catholic.
After the meal chestnuts with homemade wine.
Even my kiddos who are now 38 and 40 grew up drinking wine and water.
Since we have scattered, mom has passed on, she carried on the tradition,
I actually become depressed this time of year, despite having grandkids, as the tradition till they are a little older is difficult to do.
But, my own children and their peers who came from Italian backgrounds, speak of Christmas Eve not the presents or Santa, but, the family and the Tradition of the Seven Fishes.
Well, off to another animal shelter, leaving some chickens in the oven as Tony will be around.
SOOO, then 4 p.m. Mass, at the American or Independent Catholic Church, I sing, and then home to a quiet home after locking up chickens, tending to our six dogs, on and on
Tony my husband will be at his dad's home, for a small fish dinner, I prefer to be alone.
