Our children recently got chickens and my 4 yr old son in his wisdom today plucked all the feathers from one of the wings on one.
The wing has been left raw (down to the bone) and bleeding. Obviously we are disgusted and amazed that our son would do this. The chicken is only very young, it has most of its new feathers (or did) but still some fluff underneath. What is the best way to care for the wound and do they grow their feathers back? At the moment we have cleaned it up and applied Betadine. We have kept it inside overnight to keep an eye on it, I am hoping it does not fret without its friends.
