I know what you mean. I adore my girls too. I hope you change the town's mind. Of course you will need help. Look into hen keeping in Seattle for a good model. I know several people there who keep hens and it's considered really positive. I think it's linked with Tilth, but I'm not sure. I'll see what I can find out. Then if you get that to a local paper you might get the support you need based on a working model. Good luck!
