Thanks Paul. Rosie is so fragile that I'm really hesitant about not feeding her for a length of time. I went right to the feed store and got a bottle of Red Cell. The shop is run from the family home and they come out when they hear a car roll up. I got out of the truck as the woman was coming out and just in case it was a wasted trip I asked if they carry it. She smiled and nodded, "One of our best sellers!" Though this was the first time she'd heard about it used for birds. So as of yesterday my whole little flock is on it. They're all old and moulting, so I thought it couldn't hurt. I had a thought also about the skin. It seems dry and tight, like the feathers are stuck. Trust a girl to come up with this, but I thought I might bring her in for a soak in warm epsom salt water with a little chamomile in it to soften her skin. I could blow dry & let her spend the night in the house and see if that helps any. Can't hurt to try I imagine. I just thought if I nourished the skin specifically it could help, or even if while in the water the feathers might loosen up a bit and I could massage them out. We'll see & of course I'll post my results.
