I started hearing the peeping before an egg even cracked...then the egg swayed a little, finally, it started. Mine seemed to take a break too, lots of peeping and moving, then nothing for awhile. We went through that cycle for a long time! Once they hatch, it is amazing how quickly they adapt to being out of the egg! We have held our chicks often, they are almost three months and they follow us around like little puppies. I hope you have great success...I am not sure what a normal hatch rate is, I had eleven eggs and seven hatched. I then put 13 eggs in the same incubator (eggs from the same farmer) and only one hatched, that one didn't last too long. GOOD LUCK!
