It's a sad day in Gresham, Oregon. The city council voted yesterday to enforce a 40 year old code which all but bans backyard chickens by requiring 100 foot separation between coops and surrounding homes. If they give you a warning you have 30 days to move them and then are fined $10 a day therreafter. Of course our coop doesn't comply, so we are just praying that no one turns us in. We are one of three families with chickens in a one block vicinity. I love my girls so much that it would break my heart to get rid of them.
