Your birds you got in May are just getting old enough to lay 22 to 26 weeks of age. The older birds are proably molting. I just put lights on a timer in my coop to give more light. If you free range this time of year food quality in the fields drops off very fast. We had our first frost this morning. Grass will die bugs hiding for winter. My chickens are eating more commercial feed now. Look at your coop In hot summer we need drafts to keep chickens cool in fall we need to close up those drafts to keep them warm. In the winter keep enough air moving so amonia will not build up in the coop. Be patiant, mother nature takes her time.
