I was thinking of establishing a "broodery" for my broody hens, Perkie and Sweetie Belle, and letting them hatch what they'd like from a clutch. However, here is my question:
When a hen and rooster mate, how many of the eggs are fertile? Is it just one? Do they need to mate for each egg? Because if I put the hens in a broodery, of course my roo won't be with them. Would I need to add my other hen's eggs to the broodery? I will still keep trying with my incubator, but I want to try this route too as Perkie and Sweetie Belle are incessantly broody and I think they would love it.
Thanks everyone!
