Well the DREADED Ordeal has occured. UGH!!!!!
You, walked me through this a few years ago.
Did not lose one bird. But lots of sleep!
Anyway to stop the spread, (isolate till over) or
go ahead and do every bird? GOnna order the fowl pox tonight.
GESSE, do I vacinate them?
Turkeys, I do..
what about ducks?
The story if you want to read, if not just some advice would be great!!!
Boog picked out 3 hens, and a roo at a market. When I brought them home, I noticed a small bump on one of the hens beak. And a black spot (scab) on the roos, lower woddle. My first thought (having delt with it in the past) Fowl Pox. I ALWAYS practice good husbandry, by isolateing new birds for this very reason. I did not, cause of who they were coming from, and how I could tell the time spent with them. ((very sweet)). One hen was sick for about 2 weeks. After treating her with a litte TLC....Vitimins & Electrolites, she finally began to take on a little weight. And has made about much improvements. Still weak.
Anyways, I just found one of my hens, and her two chicks, that have come down with Fowl Pox.
I will be ordering the, Fowl Pox tonight, to go ahead and treat all my other birds.
Atleast 100 birds, inc. turkeys, geese, ducks. What a job it is!!
I wish yours well, would not want anyone to have to go through what I am about to take on.
I would like your thoughts on this. We still LOVE them, they are lap babies for sure!
