I've heard Silkies make very friendly chicks but it was a mixed package for me. They are more 'pet' chickens though and being bantams, they have that flightier touch that some large fowl chicks don't show. After a while, I'm sure they'll get used to you.
I looked online and found that there really isn't any one age chickens are wormed. People start as young as 6 weeks and others are old as 2 years...my advice: if you're that concerned, try Paul's Cayenne pepper idea, which I love because it's natural, when they turn 6 weeks old but I'd wait until I actually suspect worms.
