Hello Group, I have a poor old hen Henrietta. She is a Rhode Island Red. Both legs were severely infected with leg mites. I did not notice this unfortunately until it was quite advanced. I have 20 chickens. Anyway she has subsequently been treated for a secondary bacterial infection on the legs with injectable penicillin procaine into the muscles. She had a 7 day round of this and it saved her life. Now, I am wondering if another round would help her out. The legs look 100 % better, but still not completely infection free. Should she get another round of injectable antibiotics? Penicillin again or another type? She is also being treated with topical triple antibiotic ointment after the legs are rinsed with peroxide.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks So much!
God Bless,
George
