Hi Diane, glad things are going well. Depending on the source of your eggs, a low hatch like that may or may not be "normal". Also, a lot depends on so many factors that hatching is iffy at best, unless you do it often enough to get a system down. The chick you hatched will be lonely as any chicken, young or old needs at least one other chicken to keep it company. I urge you to obtain at least one more chick of nearly the same age for that purpose. Most times feed stores have chicks in the summer and may still have a few. Good luck.....P
