First, check out the protien in their feed. Should be at least in the 14-20% range. If it`s lower, or even on the low end of that, try a feed that is a little higher in protien. Feathers are mostly protien, so that could be lacking in their diet.
Second, until he gets some growth going, use an anti peck spray, like those available in pet stores for birds. Spray him about every 2-3 days in the bare area. Easiest way to do it is at night while he`s on the roost. The stuff I have is supposed to tast like sour apples and works great. I`ve had a little 4 oz bottle for almost 8 years andstill have a lot left.
As Haley mentioned, This time of year many birds are losing feathers due to the moulting season. Could be what`s happening to your rooster. Anyway, hope this helps......P
