Wow, that was one determined hawk! Make sure to cover the top of the cage with hardware cloth so it won't happen again. Poor baby. Anyway, it would help to know where the wound is and what kind, as in, a puncture or slice. You can wash it with peroxide and/or warm water with a mild soap, but be careful not to let it get into the eyes. If you have a puncture you want to make sure it stays dry, so if you can get your hands on "Wonder Dust" or something like that it would be good. It's a powder they use on horses often, so you could find it at a tack shop. It's usually dark in color and you puff it out onto the wound and it disinfects and draws out puss to keep punctures clean. If it's more of a slice I would use a triple antibiotic ointment like neosporin. Keep a close eye on it. You don't want to see redness spreading on the area or for the flesh to feel very hot. Make sure to follow the full course of antibiotic drops according to the bottle. Good luck, I hope your pal is okay. He must have been pretty scared. I bet he'll be feeling pretty nervous about being outside, so I'd keep him in or give an area he can hide in.
