My girl had a swolen eye a few weeks ago, which I'm happy to say I cured with eyedrops and VetRX. Both were applied to the eye, as someone had suggesed to me, and she was cured. I'm sure the eye was this way because my girl was broody and wouldn't move out of the nest.
Recently I let her free-range with the others because I was tired of watching her walk around in circles all day. She picked a fight with ANOTHER broody hen, not a good choice, and had both eyes swolen. This time, I did the same treatment and she healed up in a matter of days. She is with the others now and is getting along fine, but is it okay to eat her eggs? She has been off the medication for less than a week and I have been throwing the eggs out.
***Also, just if anyone can answer this, too: BluKote isn't egg-eating safe, is it? I know that on the bottle it says not to eat cattle exposed to the stuff. Is Hot-Pick okay, also? I don't think the bottles include anything on this...(?)
