Joe people arediff. on this. Me I would give atleast 2'x 2' sq. for each one. some people say diff. With the pen being only 6' wide, go all the way across. Right now I have a 18'x12'x12' coop, w/ 4 roosters and 20 hens. And if things go right 8 more in 22 days. For nesting box, use anything that makes the girls feel safe. I've got lg old mailbox, old smoker bbq pit on it's side, egg grates w/ one side cut out, and an old 5 gal bucket. Hope all this helps.
