I'm just starting a new flock. I have my young flock housed in a three stacker rabbit cage while I'm finishing up my chicken tractor. We have been attacked by raccoons. They ate two chickens in the bottom pen right through the 1/2 x 1 inch bottom wire after they slid the pan out! Another two of the chickens lived through it with missing toes. Two questions: How will the chickens do with missing toes (they both can walk but may not be able to roost) and how do you trap the raccons? We set a Havaheart raccoon sized trap and baited it with peanutbutter spread on bread as we didn't want to catch our cats and read online that peanutbutter was a good bait. The first night nothing. The second night I put a trail of bread and peanutbutter leading up to the trap. The next morning the trail was gone, but the trap bait still untouched. Any suggestions? Thanks! Nancy
