My sister lived in the south and from time to time she would get large blocks of ice (have no idea where she got them from) and put them in plastic storage bins under the roost. She said the girls would sit in there when it got really hot. She stated it felt like an airconditioner. I did read about someone else doing the same thing..I think it was a Mother Earth article (Great Magazine by the way). A little far out there for me but I never lived in the South long enough to have chickens (Army).
