I have 3 Brazilians left from a an exclusive bloodline direct fro Brasil. Only one hen. I`ve been trying to get some eggs and set them, but the hen and rooster in the brood pen both eat eggs. The hen is now broody, but not setting. I have 2 eggs from her that my stepson managed to salvage while I was in FL. I put them under a friends hen, even though they were almst 3 weeks old. Wish me luck.
To try and break these two from the egg eating habit, I put 3 golf balls in her nest. The first thing that happened was that the cock called the hen to the balls and proceeded to thrash them in an effort to break them. He seemed to give up after a few minutes, but 10 minutes later, as I was leaving, he started up again. That was a week ago and so far they haven`t eaten the golf balls. LOL. When she starts laying again will be the real test for the success of this endeavor. I`ll letcha know.
I think it was Haley that suggested the mustard. Could work? Dunno. Good luck with yours Charles....P
