Small egg...I mean small

I just got back home from being gone for a week and the first thing my wife says to me is "Look at this". Not hello honey or anything. Anyways (she loves the girls), she opened the egg carton and in there was the absolute smallest egg I have ever seen (chicken egg that is). It is about the same size as the end of my thumb from the knuckle to the end of the nail. It is a litle darker then the usualy eggs but nonetheless looks eggzactly (ha, ha) like the rest. Just a "mini" egg. I have never seen this in my 20 plus years with chickens. Anyone!!!
