I'm no expert. Maybe there are mineral/nutrient deficiencies in the soil in your area. But generally, my feeling is 'let the chickens roam and eat what they will'. So, ok, we do only let them really roam when we're home, after work. And even weekends, we don't let them out until after noon, when they're done laying. And I'm assuming you have oyster shell, or some other calcium supplement available free choice, right? Good luck. Greg
