What is a trap nest box and can I make my own?
I want to know who is laying and who isnt
What time of day should I start to collect the eggs?
My chickens are free run during the day and locked up at night in a coop, I did find some eggs around the farm a couple of weeks ago when they started laying. I have been keeping them in the coop until noon, hoping that would teach them were to lay. Havent found any more around the place but maybe they are getting sneeky!
Yesterday I got 5 eggs, I think I have 12 young hens.
I think I have a hen eating the eggs because today there was only one and a hens face looked pretty messy! An I have found some cracked eggs in the past. Should I be collecting a few times in the morning, and keep them in until noon until all of them are laying, or should I let them out in the morning?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am new to chickens, and had no idea they were so complex. I am having a great time learning from everyone!
