I think they missed out on a hit! I have a funny DVD of out-takes. Porky was schnockered, and it was very cold & windy too. I thought the little "Benny Hill sped-up part" was a funny touch. And now you know...the rest of the story.

Hi Gary,
Sorry 'bout that! But neat to hear too.
I thought it sounded like a bad kids' nursery rhyme the first time I heard it...then caught myself humming it an hour later. I figured if "Achy Breaky Heart" could be a hit, maybe this would do well too...and it sure did! Catchy little tune, eh!?
It still gets airplay in Canada quite a bit...we have a hit in a few timezones! We get lots of comments on the vintage guitar sound too.
When we recorded it, I thought it was just a "made-up" song, then when we were playing at the Bedrock/Robys one time, a patron says "hey, don't play that Desiree song. The guy's kid owns a shop down the street and comes here sometimes. He might not like it."
We had NO IDEA what he was talking about, and so years later...we find out it was a true story about the guy you mentioned (shhhh). I used the actual microfilm for the video, and it was shot in about the same location as events happened. "Porky", the character we used in the video knew the couple...so it was funny that years later he would be playing the part of the husband in the video. I dug up all of the library microfilm...things were never solved.
It stayed on the Canadian "Top Requested Songs" for a few years. We still hear it every day when we're up there. Very neat!
Thank your Bro for the interest in our music. Hopefully he enjoys the rest of the CD and you can bring him out to see us sometime.
Shawn
