Posted by Deb Cut or tear muslin into 1 1/4 inch strips. You will need: Drape the muslin over the ball in different directions so as to cover the entire surface, smoothing as you go. Gather the strips at the bottom and tie tightly to form a neck. Gather the shorter strips together and tie together about 1/2 inch from each end to form the arms. Divide the body of the doll in half and put the arms crosswise directly under the neck. Gather the body strips under the arms and tie tightly to form the waist. Place the 7 x 8 inch piece in front of you, lengthwise. Fold in the left and right sides so that the top of the piece measures 5 1/2 inches and the bottom measures 3 1/2 inches. Fold each of the short ends in about 1/4 inch and tacky-glue them down. Place the 3 1/2 inch edge at the nape of the neck (I tacky-glue it, and secure it with ribbon later). Place the 5 1/2 inch edge framing the "face" of the doll and tacky-glue just the end corners in place. I use the lace and ribbon around the neck, waist and wrists as well as the front edge of the cap. This covers my string.
