Glenn, I just reread your message & realised this may not be the book I was referring to - so it may be written by my gt grndfather. What details does it give that give re. places of reference? My Charles was born in Lincolnshire in abt 1821, near Brigg, and got his masters ticket in Liverpool in 1853. His father was a farmer.
