Ah, the classic poem from Juvenal about the female gladiator. However, the Romans paid plenty of silver to see the ladies fight each other, animals, and dwarves so they must have like it. Plus, historians of the era reported that gladiatrices were popular favorites of gamblers. When SCA chapters do either gladiator fights having some women or medieval jousting with ladies on horseback, the crowds do roar for the birds.
