I beg to differ. All myths have their basis in historical fact, and I have no doubts that there were matriarchal tribes living in what is now Western Turkey that gave the ancient Greeks are hard time. Forgetting the fact that there are historical accounts of Sarmatian and Celtic women warriors killing Roman soldiers, Viking women warriors slaying Saxons, and the many accounts of women slaying men in combat throughout history. Please see my blog's links for historical references.
Moving up to the modern era, IRA women built bombs and sniped at the Brits, Israeli women fought in their infantry, artillery, and even flew fighter jets, all killing Arabs. Today there are women soldiers in many of the countries that don't have antiquated laws on women serving in combat.
I would like to add that when I served with the Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War that I personally encountered and had to kill a few female Viet Cong soldiers who were very intent on shooting my fellow Marines.
And, I'm proudly to say, that my eldest daughter is a US Navy fighter pilot serving on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Iraq. Today, I have full confidence that properly conditioned and trained women can and do fight honorably and are more than a match for any man.
