The Royal couple already move between Frederik IX palace in Copenhagen, the Chancellery at Fredensborg Palace and Grasten Palace in Jutland for the summer.
In what state is the Main building at this moment? I saw some pictures from in and outside not too long ago and the building looked quite 'tired' and I am sure it has not been adapted to new standards with regards to sustainability either. Renovations might have to be considered.
Is it possible that they have decided to open up Fredensborg to the public permanently in the future and only use it for state occasions.
Anything is possible, but as long as Queen Margrethe resides at Fredensborg most of the year, there will hardly be any big changes. She is extremely fond of the palace, and her son is apparently in no hurry to kick her out.
