This is OT in a way but what is known about Count Ingolf's first wife who sadly died at an early age? She always appeared in photos to be sweet and quiet but I know nothing about her.
I do not know much about her either, but she was said to be unassuming and friendly. She was a trained clerk and worked for a time in her father's ironmongers shop. Her favourite pastimes were dancing and playing tennis, and she also sewed her own dresses. She became a good housewife and supported her husband, but it was not always easy. When Ingolf was in his fourties, he had a big alcohol problem and almost drank himself to death. "I constantly snarled at Inge" , he said in 1989 after having been sober for five years. "She certainly had to put up with much in the years I was boozing. Now that I have stopped drinking our marriage is considerably better".
Countess Inge was struck by breast cancer at the age of 57 and was open about her condition. She remained optimistic until a few days before she passed away a year and a half later.
