Through a new docu-drama about the life of King Frederik 9 a few totally new historical facts has been uncovered. One is that Prince Knud in 1953 asked to have his official protest against the new Throne Following Law recored in the records of the Council of State.
Actually it's old news. Back in 2013, the protest was well described in a biography on Prime Minister Erik Eriksen ("Erik Eriksen - den smilende reformator" by Knud Bjørn Eriksen). The book makes it clear that the King and Queen had many discussions with the PM before the referendum, so they were hardly as uninvolved as many people think.
