I'm sorry my post was misunderstood. It was meant tongue-in-cheek.
I completely agree with the points you make. However, I don't think there is a problem with him taking a job as a model, rather the incident with the rental car. Stig posted that the incident was explained by Countess Alexandras secretary and it appears that Prince Nikolai did not intend for his photo standing by the car to be used as advertising.
Why wouldn't it be ok? Nikolai is a grown up man (a young adult but still). As HM's grandson and number 7 in line of succession he has no state income and he probably will never get one. That means he has to earn his own living.
He is tall and handsome so modelling is a career option for him and yes models do pose for commercial shoots. That is part of their job. He no doubt discussed this career choice with his parents and if Joachim saw any trouble in it he might have spoken to the Queen about it.
Had Nikolai taken a job filling the shelves of a supermarket like many other youngsters less blessed in the looks department or got a job selling clothes in a boutique, working in a call centre or labouring for a building company would he be in the clear?
If you want Royals not to be part of commercial activities then you have to pay them. With two sons and 8 grandchildren i get that the Danes opt not to do so.
That means you have relatives of the monarch making a living. As long as he stays away from criminal activities or overtly political stuff he should be free to do so in his chosen manner.
