: Interesting info from Marlene (and Ted
: Rosvall) as always, but I take it from
: Robert's comment that, like Estelle,
: Adrienne is not a Swedish-sounding name to
: Scandinavians. Can anyone confirm that?
But isn't that the case with Princess Madeleine herself? Her name sounds totally French to me: Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine. Wouldn't the Swedish version be Magdalena Teresia Amelia Josefina?
One of the King's sister also seem to have a French name: Désirée. Wasn't her ancester Désirée Clary known in Sweden as Queen Desideria?
: Out of curiosity, has Estelle become a more
: popular name in Sweden since the birth of
: the princess of that name? I recall at the
: time of her birth the name announcement was
: greeted with great surprise.
:
: Who are the previous holders of the dukedom,
: if any?
:
: Thanks!

: If anyone would care to see an explanation

: Was there any explanation for the choice of
: Adrienne?
: Josephine and Alice are both names from
: Madeleine's family but i don't remember ever
: hearing the name Adrienne before in a
: Bernadotte context.
:
: They seem to like to choose un-Swedish
: names...
