Whether he will do it in the future is uncertain, as I would say it is unclear what rank Queen Victoria will have. The King holds the highest ranks in the military divison today, as he was the Commander in chief when he acceded to the throne, but since then has the law changed. It is thought that this is kept as curtsey to the King, but we don't know how the precedence is when a new monarch accedes. If the new Queen not will receive the highest ranks, I doubt her consort will do so, or she could award them to him.
