: None the less, if the regency is taken on by
: the person in line, with no formal
: appiointment, the Speaker has de-facto been
: the regent whenever all those royals in line
: for the post were abroad at the same time.
: I don't agree. There is nothing in the
: Constitution stating that there has to be a
: Regent when the King is abroad.
: Just to understand the mechanism: The Crown
: Princess automatically becomes regent when
: the King is abroad.
: When the King and Victoria are both abroad,
: Carl Philip is regent and then as the last
: in line, Madeleine (if she is in the
: This is automatic.
: If they are all abroad there is no regent. I
: am not sure I understand the logic in this.
: Do you know what is behind this thinking -
: there does not have to be a regent, but the
: royals automatically takes on the role, if
: they are in the country.
Once again, I think I must remind you that Sweden has a Constitution. The Speaker can be given the role as Head of State if the government decides it, and this can only happen if there is noone from the Royal House to act as Head of State.
: Is this why the royals have to inform the
: Prime Minister when they travel abroad, so
: someone somewhere knows who is the automatic
: regent? Or that noone holds that role.
And you think so based on...?
