I do hope this custom wonīt continue. I donīt see why it is important for people not belonging to a family to take a look at a dead member of other peopleīs father, mother etc. ...?
Of course the people should have the oppurtunity to say good bye - but to pass the coffin to pay their respects is quite enough and much more dignified.
Anyway, I wouldnīt be very happy to be EXPOSED to people (a lot of them mere spectators) I do not know after I passed away! To me this custom had a bit of cruelty attached to it.
