What a personality. Thanks for taking the effort to translate/summarize all his views and opinion. That's a man of substance, logic, humour and of consistency. If I were Benedikte I'd adore him! 
I also remember he rather plastically described the pain he felt "downunder", suffering from cancer, when peeing... Downright "hell".
Is Benedikte kind of neurotic or "weltfremd"? So it seems, when reading Richard's quite sensible opinions... My favourite: his remark about her looking for shoes... (A problem in many households I suppose...)
I just love these longlasting marriages where "les extrèmes se touchent vraiment". To be preferred to marriages which end in divorces after just a couple of years of "quarrelling". My parents' generation sacrified more "for better and for worse". Admirable.
