Maybe Queen Margrethe II dispensed her sister to curtsey to her. I also noticed her sons don't bow to her.

:
: That has nothing to do with royal protocol.
: A Princess curtsies to a Queen. No
: exception. Either you abolish curtsies, like
: in the Netherlands (but the Dutch Princesses
: curtsey to the King and Queen of Spain, for
: example), or you follow royal protocol.
: Being in line to the throne or not has
: nothing to do with curtseying or not.
: Letizia and the Spanish Infantas curtsey to
: Queen Anne-Marie, even if she is not longer
: a reigning Queen consort.
: I have seen Princess Benedikte curtseying to
: the King and Queen of Spain. Strange you
: curtsey to a foreign monarch and not to your
: own sovereign.

: Benedikte would never curtsy to her sister
: or
: brother-in-law....She is in line of the
: throne and as the Queen's sister she enjys a
: special status.

: Mary curtseyd to Henrik since her marriage
: to
: Frederik. Probably she does it as respect to
: his father-in-law but wouldn't do it to
: Prince Philip.
:
: I think Diana curtseyd to his father-in-law
: but probably she didn't do it to Prince
: Claus of the Netherlands (during the Dutch
: State Visit to the UK).

: Curtseying to Prince Henrik would mean that
: he
: has been (de facto) given the status of King
: consort. I have seen the DoE bowing to the
: King of Spain and the Spanish Infantas do
: not curtsey to Princes consort.
: Crown Princess Mary curtseying to the Prince
: consort of Denmark is an innovation in royal
: protocol.
: But it would be expected that she curtsied
: to the Queen of Denmark, even is she is her
: sister.

: I thought it was interesting that Princess
: Benedikte didn’t appear to curtsey to either
: her sister or her brother-in-law, although
: obviously Princesses Mary and Marie did.

: Today the traditional solemn opening of the
: Danish Parliamentary Year will take place
: with the participation of the whole royal
: family. Photos can be expected later.
