Henri, may I remind you that the 02-02-2002 wedding took place v e r y early in the morning?
Remember the discussions on the Boards about all royal ladies getting up early (not easy I guess, after the pre-wedding ball the night before...) and getting dressed & having their hair fixed even before breakfast and being ready shortly after that?
By noon the whole 'show' (civil & church wedding) was over already, and then the carriage ride and the balcony-scene took some time.
But that was all.
Many of us wondered at the time why it all had to start so (extremely) early ...
!!
It would have so much nicer if the whole parade had started by mid afternoon!
Both for the guests, the enthusiastic crowds and, especially, all personell in attendance of the royals
and yes, the dress-code would have been better and more in accordance to what we saw at the time of all those fabulous Scandinavian weddings !!!
BTW, even at the 1966 and 1967 Dutch royal wedding all ladies were wearing long dresses and hats.
March 10, 1966 , among the royal guests we spot bridesmaid Princess Christina of Sweden, her elder sister Princess Margaretha (+ husband John Ambler) Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Crown Prince Harald of Norway and many more familiar faces
